Sylvester Givens

Quietly and Peacefully God called Sylvester Givens from this life to his Eternal Rest on April 10th, 2023.

   Sylvester Givens was born in Baxley, Georgia on June 17th, 1961. He was the oldest boy of four children born to Elliot and Elouise Givens. Sylvester obtained his education within the Washington, D.C. Public School System. While attending Job Corp in West Virginia Sylvester graduated receiving his GED. Sylvester loved to work, that was his favorite thing to do. He was a Labor as well as a Supervisor for D.C. Housing and Retired in 2021.

  In May of 1987 Sylvester married his childhood friend Javinia Wright and from this union 3 children were born.  Sylvester loved his family more than life itself. He enjoyed listening to his Oldie but Goodies, especially Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, The Temptations and Smokey Robinson just to name a few. He enjoyed family gatherings, seeing all four of his girls together along with the grandchildren truly was his hearts desire. He didn’t drink but he loved his Pepsi so much so that he would call it his “Beer”. Whenever you heard “Young” you knew he was talking to one of his four girls for that is what he effectually called all of his girls whenever they were around.

          Sylvester was preceded in death by his Father Elliot Givens and his Sister Irene Givens.  Sylvester leaves to cherish his memories with His Mother Elouise Givens, His Loving Daughters Tenisha Stalling (Kyle Stallings), Kendrick Stewart (Michael Stewart), Andrea Givens (Arthur), and Tawanna Givens (Sean). His Brothers, Dale Givens and Daryl Givens. His seven grandchildren, and a Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
