On Friday, July 14th, 2023, beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend Ronald Lewis Hedgman made his transition from this life to live an eternal life with our heavenly father. Ronald AKA Redz, Also, affectionately known as "Uncle knocles" to his nieces and nephews was born on January 13th, 1961 in Southeast Washington, DC; he was the third of four children born to Eugene Maurice Hedgman Sr.(predeceased) and Mary Alleen Hedgman.
Growing up, Ronald was educated in the DC public school system. He had a great talent in drawing, he liked listening to the band "KISS", and was a star wars fan. Ronald never met a stranger; he was always friendly and willing to lend a helping hand to others. He had a great sense of humor and would love to do impersonations of other people including his favorite actors and movie scenes. He loved westerns, action, and martial arts movies, especially Bruce Lee and was a avid boxing fan.
Ronald took up the sport of boxing and weight lifting and trained very hard. He was very strong, at times he could bench press so much weight that the bar would start to bend, he also could chop concrete bricks in half with his bare hand. Ronald worked varies jobs as a Security Officer, Truck Drive, and auto repair, but his favorite job was a Mechanic tech at Montgomery Wards. Everyone knew how much he enjoyed working on cars. Ronald loved to party and have a good time he was a very outgoing guy. He loved to dance, make people laugh, and spend time with family, .he was very proud of his son Ronald, and daughter Sheena and would often speak about their talents. Everyone who knew Ronald, knew how dedicated he was to his mother "Mary". Even when Ronald moved out of the house he still came home everyday to eat and check on mama. Ronald also loved the Lord and knew how to do many other great things throughout his life.
Ronald leaves to cherish his loving memory, one son Ronald Swain Sr., daughter in-law(Montre) and one daughter Sheena, Three grandchildren, Naya Swain, Ronald Swain Jr., and Joel Swain, his mother Mary Alleen Hedgman, brother Eugene Maurice Hedgman Jr., sister Mary Elizabeth Hedgman-Garland, Brother in-law Hodges Garland III. Nephews Hodges Richard Garland(Shareese), and Jerome Tony Garland, Nieces Tiffany Nicole Hedgman and Rhonda Mary Hedgman, one Aunt Lenora Jones, and a host of loving cousins, other loving family, friends, good friends Michael Howie and Loretta Fogle. Ronald was predeceased by his father Eugene Maurice Hedgman Sr. and brother Reginald Anthony Hedgman.
Ronald was blessed with a large and loving family whom all loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends who have solace in knowing he is embraced and resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior.. May the memory of Ronald, his laugh, his words, his smile, live on in our hearts for many years to come.
