Grand Opening 02/28/1955 - Grand Closing 11-11-2021
Paul Clinton Jones was born in Washington, DC on February 28th, 1955 to Sarah Jones and Francis Jones. Paul was one of four brothers and one sister. During his time here on Earth, he accomplished many things, touched many people's lives and built lifelong relationships.
Paul graduated from Phelps High School in Washington, DC and received a full ride basketball scholarship to attend Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. During his time at Robert Morris from 1974-1978, he was the first four year basketball player in the university’s history, scoring 1000 points and 450 rebounds. He was the recipient of the Gus Krop Award for Athletic Excellence during the 1977-1978 season. In a letter written by Gus Krop, he stated “Not only was Paul a fine athlete, but a fine young man who was very popular here at college on all levels.” The letter continues to say that Paul would like to give back and be a part of the Inner City programs in Washington, DC. Those words exemplify the person he was, always giving back and spreading love.
After college, Paul went on to be the Recreation Director at Bethesda Naval Base and a successful Real Estate Agent. His greatest accomplishments and what he loved the most was his legacy. He was the greatest father to his children Shara Jones, Justin Jones and Byron Tindall. He was the type of father who did any and everything for his children. Family and legacy was always his main focus. Through that love, he gained many non biological children that you would think from his love and actions came directly from him. Also from that love, he developed so many family bonds with friends. He would always say “ It’s not only blood that makes you family.”
If you asked Paul, he would say his greatest accomplishment and best rewards are his grandchildren Ethan Drummond, Madison Drummond, Kassiah Drummond and Zeven Croom. The joy on his face and their faces when they were together will be remembered forever. He was their Papa and the best Papa to ever do it. He will truly be missed by so many. His love spread far and wide and touched the hearts of many during his time here on Earth.
