On Sunday September 24th, Patricia Q. Davis, 71, passed away from complications due to advanced COPD.
Patricia was born on December 8, 1951 to Joseph and Coralie C. Queen. She grew up in the Edgewood section of Washington DC, where she attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School and later went on to Catholic University and Howard University. Patricia went to work early, as a clerk at the Hot Shoppes, and as a bank teller/cashier at Riggs Bank. She enjoyed music and skating.
While skating, she met Bruce Wayne Davis Sr. Bruce and Patricia went on to have 2 children, Bruce Jr. and Naja After graduating, Patricia went to work for the federal government as a systems accountant, most notably for the Defense Logistics Agency at Cameon Station and Fort Belvoir. While working at The Bureau of Engraving and Printing, she met Harry G. Vavra, and the 2 went on to make many lasting memories together, including yearly trips with the kids to VA Beach.
After a fire destroyed the family home in Washington DC, Harry and Patricia relocated to Dale City in Northern VA, where Patricia retired and remained until the time of her death. She spent her time checking up on old friends, tending her house and taking care of her pet dog.
Patricia is survived by her son Bruce Davis, her daughter, Naja Davis, and her granddaughter Juanita Davis.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Queen and Coralie C. Queen.
Services for Patricia will be Thursday, October 12th at Camp Springs Community Church at 8040 Woodyard Road in Clinton MD.
