Obituary

Kimberly Roshawn (Bond) Ballard- Bey was born in Washington, DC on December 13, 1974, she was the only child to Lavern Bond-Walls and Robert Hartridge. She received her call to eternal rest on March 30, 2022.  “Kim, Kimmie or Tweet (personal family nick name)” as she was affectionately known was educated in the DC Public School System and graduated from Ballou Senior High School. Kimmie worked as a Federal Government Contractor for the Pentagon up until her failing health.

Kimmie was married to Derrick Ballard-Bey and out of this union they had their only son, Drew Ali Ballard-Bey. She was the greatest, “down to earth” mother to Drew. She was the type that did any and everything to make sure he had the best quality of life.

During her time on Earth, Kimmie accomplished many things and built lifelong relationships with family and friends. Kim’s personality was so inviting. She had the gift to uplift. You were not going to be down in her presence with her hilarious since of humor and her extraordinary laugh.

Born and raised in Washington, DC, Kim was a huge fan of the Washington Commanders as well as DC’s own Go-Go Music. Her love for DC’s Go-Go began in her early teens when she started going to watch various bands perform at such places, just a few to name, Cherries, East Side, Black Hole, etc. Kim enjoyed doing her signature dance to her favorite Go-Go song “It’s A Whole lot of Pressure”.

Kim was very photogenic. Therefore, you would never catch her off her “A” game with her appearance. She always stayed up to date with the latest trend from her hair, makeup, clothes, bags down to her shoes. When this Diva walked into a room wearing her Ruby Woo lipstick, she made a statement.

Kimmie was known as a travel bug, known to pick up and go at the drop of a hat. She traveled both internationally and domestically. She was a frequent traveler to such places as Miami, Puerto Rico and various islands.  She will truly be missed by so many. Her love spread far and wide and touched the hearts of many during her time on Earth.  Her famous sayings were, “Live life to the fullest and Life is too short”.

Kimmie is preceded in death by her brother, Reginald Colbert; Stepfather, Curtis Walls; uncles, Tyrone M. Bond and Vernon Bond, Grandmother, Clara E. Bond and Aunt, Jacqueline J. Brown.
