Arlethia Brown Obituary

Arlethia Brown, affectionately known as Lisa, age 56, peacefully departed this life on December 4, 2020 after battling a courageous fight with breast cancer.

Lisa was born in Washington, DC on May 21, 1964 to Betty Rufus and Edward Harris.  She was educated in Washington, DC Public Schools.  Lisa was Baptized and gave her life to Christ at Antioch Bibleway Church in Alexandria, VA.  Lisa recently rededicated her life to Christ and her trust in the Lord kept her strong, courageous and fearless.

Although Lisa never married or had children of her own, she was blessed to have Little Terry (Quack), whom she affectionately referred to as one of her own and helped raise from an infant.  He was the center of her life. She loved and gave her all to him as well as his siblings Nadia, Gianni, Marques, Michael, and Mehki.  Lisa adored them all equally and they all loved and adored her too!

Lisa was loving, caring and extremely funny.  At any family function or get together Lisa was full of energy and loved music. You could always catch her singing and hand dancing to her favorite oldies.

Lisa loved her family and friends deeply and was at her happiest when she was around them. Lisa loved being on Facebook. It was her way of keeping in touch with everyone near and far as well as meeting new friends.

Lisa had a kind and giving spirit, and she always showed love to others. She enjoyed inviting family and friends over and made sure no one ever went hungry whether she offered them a full meal or just a sandwich.

Lisa was loved and cherished by all who knew her.  Her memory and the many great stories that she left with us will live forever in our hearts, Lisa will be truly missed.

Lisa is preceded in death by her Father, Edward Harris, Stepfather, Alburtus Rufus, Brother, Jason Rufus, and Aunt Phyllis Brown.  Lisa leaves to cherish her memory her Beloved Mother Betty Rufus; Sisters - Melba Wanzer (Lamont), Tonya Smith (Timothy), Pastor Freda and Deacon Bruce Satterthwaite; Brothers Edward Harris (Wilma), Andre Harris, and Jumaane Harris; Cousin Adrian Jones (John); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-niece, great nephew and many other loving relatives and friends.

(There will not  be a repass following the service.)
