Suddenly, on Sunday, March 3, 2019, Vernon Jack Bond Jr. was called home to be with his Lord.
Vernon- who was known as Cookie - was born on July 8, 1942, to the late Vernon and Dorothy Bond in Washington, DC.
Vernon attended and graduated from the D.C. Public Schools System.
On July 2 1972, he married the love of his life Charlene Sikes. From this union they had two sons Philip and Jack. At the time of his death, the couple had been married for 45 years.
Vernon was a business owner along side his loving wife for over 20 years. Vernon was a quite man, He loved sports especially basketball. Watching the news channels was one of his favorite past times. He didn't care whose television it was, he would turn the news on to watch it. He enjoyed taking care of animals and spending time having relaxing conversations with his wife.
Vernon leaves to cherish his memory, devoted wife, Charlene; two sons Phillip Bond and Vernon J. Bond III; one step-son Bernard Bond; one step-daughter Valencia Bond, one grandson Phillip Bond II; one sister LaVerne Bond-Walls, two brothers ; Michael Bond Sr. and Gregory S. Long (Yvonne); two brother in-laws Lorenzo Brown Sr. and Carl Hall (Angie); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and people who loved him.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Sr. and Dorothy Bond: brother, Tyrone M. Bond, sister, Jacqueline J. Brown and Aunt Christine Miller.
