It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Takara Jihan Henry, who departed this life on September 27, 2025, in Temple Hills, Maryland, at the age of 41. Born on January 24, 1984, in San Diego, California, Takara spent her early years surrounded by family and love. In 1989, she and her family moved to Gaithersburg, Maryland, where she grew up and built many of the lifelong friendships that shaped her youth. She later made her home in Germantown, living there from 2003 before life took her on new adventures across the country. Over the years, she lived in Virginia, Washington, D.C., Tennessee, and California, before eventually returning to the East Coast in 2023, where she settled once again near family and familiar roots.

Takara had an outgoing personality and an infectious smile that could light up any room. She was drawn to creativity in all its forms—fashion, modeling, art, and music—and carried a natural flair for style and self-expression. She often dreamed of a future in the fashion industry, whether as a model, designer, or creative mind behind the scenes.

She also had a kind heart and a deep love for animals, especially cats. During her time living in Washington, D.C., she worked as a dog walker, a job she often described as one of her favorites. She found joy and peace in the company of animals and had a natural way of connecting with them—just as she did with people.

Takara was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Bernard Henry III and Barbara Lynn Henry, her brother Keith Henry, and her sister Nicole Williams.

She is survived by her brothers, Ernest Bernard Henry IV and Kevin Henry, along with a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A celebration of Takara's life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hedgman Funeral Service Chapel, 7531 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.

Takara will be remembered for her laughter, creativity, compassion, and her ability to make everyone around her feel seen and valued. Though her time with us was far too short, her light continues to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
