KEVIN'S JOURNEY

Kevin Andre Chase, also affectionately known as "Cheese", "Hamburger", and "G Kev", was born on December 9, 1969, to Deacon Ira Eugene, Sr. and Judith Theresa Chase in Washington, DC.  He was educated in Catholic schools, attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School and Archbishop Carroll High School, graduating in 1987. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Open Bible Ministries and currently Victory Christian Ministries International (VCMI), in Suitland, MD. It was joining his father for deacon duties and serving as an altar boy that his heart to serve was birthed. God used his servant's heart to serve in many ministries in the church.

Kevin grew up on T Place, S.E., the home of his parents. All his friends grew up there and surrounding streets as well, and you could find them gathered in the backyard of his parents' home playing basketball late into the night. Kevin and his childhood friends have a very special bond. They often credited him with keeping them grounded and pointing them in God's direction.

After high school, he attended the University of the District of Columbia in 1987 for a year. He began working at the Department of Justice from September 24, 1989, to June 20, 1993. After the Justice Department, Kevin began working for the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) on June 21, 1993, until the time of his passing.

From a previous marriage a daughter was born, Jasmine Monique also known as Jae. Jae and her father have a lot of similar traits. She was her daddy's heart.

While at the OCC, it was there that he met and fell in love with his wife Anita and they were married on November 20, 2004. Their bond was deepened by their friendship, faith, and love for family. Kevin loved to travel too. He and Anita traveled to some wonderful places in the US, Caribbean, and Europe, including most recently Greece and Turkey.

Kevin cherished time with his family. He was always the one who kept everyone smiling with his jokes and just being downright silly. He also loved to cook and grill. His specialty among many were his salmon cakes and fried chicken. He created YouTube videos featuring some of his famous dishes called, "Cooking with G Kev."

Kevin also loved to play games and watch movies when the family got together.  Among his favorite movies was Harlem Nights, Life, and Coming to America. He also loved the television shows Martin and The Office in which his niece, Brittany introduced him too.

Kevin's love for sports was influenced by his mom. You could often find him on social media trash talking and doing his own commentary about his favorite teams. His favorite team was the Boston Celtics and Washington Commanders. He enjoyed attending football and basketball games with friends and family. He even has a Celtics Championship ring.

Kevin's passion was his gift of videotaping and taking pictures of events for family and friends. He discovered his love of editing at Open Bible Ministries. He would spend hours creating clips for the ministry. It led to starting his own business called "Heavenly Editing and Video" making special moments last a lifetime.

To carry on his legacy, Kevin leaves behind his loving wife Anita, his daughter Jasmine (Jae), parents, Ira Sr. and Judith, Sidney and Mary (in-loves), siblings, Lisa, Ira, Jr. "Kip", (Linda), Nicole (Carlton) and Marcia (sister-in-love), nieces and nephews, Brittany (preceded in death), Gabrielle, Troi, Isaiah, Elyce, Carlton Jr. "Deuce", (Brihana), Carlyce, Alyssa (Kameron), Tiffany (Neal) and Kimberle', great-nephews, Christian, Eli, Taj, Malachi, and Kaleb, great-nieces, Diamond, Avaya, MaKenzie, Mya, Malia, MiKayla, and great-great niece Zara.  He also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of family, cousins and forever friends.
