Frances "Smooty" Lewis, daughter of Elizabeth Doise Proctor (Harley) and Robert Proctor, was born in Washington, DC on November 11, 1945. Frances attended DC Public School. She retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital where she worked as the head cook. She accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized, had her First Holly Communion, and was confirmed.
Frances departed this life on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019, at her daughter's home in Upper Marlboro, MD following a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Pearl (Price), Shirley (Campbell), Catherine (Lewis), Lorraine (Campbell), and her brothers Roland Proctor, Ernest Proctor, and Leroy (Fuzz) Proctor, her grandson Nathan Ferebee Jr., and great granddaughter Branyah Blake.
Frances spent majority of her life volunteering in her community in whatever capacity was needed. Frances taught the family how to welcome people with open arms no matter what, treat people as you would want them to treat you, and to never give up on things that you wanted to do in life. Frances loved to bake, travel, party with family, bingo, creating flower arrangements, cats, air shows, crocheting, western and Disney movies, Fred Astaire movies, and playing card games. She was also the hand dancing queen and a die-hard Redskin fan. Her favorite saying was "I don' mean no harm, but."
Her legacy will be forever cherished in the lives of her four children Delores (Gregory), Tina (Williams), Albert Jr Lewis, and Marilynn (Small). She is also blessed with one daughter-in-law Kysha, and three son-in-laws Lindo, Brian, and Theodore (Teddy). Eleven grandchildren Shkiea, Germiea, Niktina, Carlos, Marc, D'Ante, Tacia, Brain Jr., Jasmyn, Derek, Jenae. Eight Great grandchildren Travon, Amya, Nicquan, Namonte, Kamdyn, Cali, Canaan, Jeremiah. Her sister Edna, and brothers, Leo, and Maurice. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
