Obituary

Charlie Webb Jr. was born on September 10, 1933, in Tarboro, N.C. to the late Charlie Webb Sr. and Selma Johnson Webb.  He departed this life on Monday, May 6, 2024 at home.  Charlie Webb Jr. was affectionately called Bud by his North Carolina family, relatives, and friends.  Upon graduating from Conetoe High School, located in Conetoe, N.C. in 1953, he married the love of his life Dorothy Lee Knight and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

In the marine military, Charlie Webb Jr. attended Engineer School and successfully completed with Tractor class #71 at Camp Lejaune, N.C. August 20, 1954.  Leaving the military in August 1957 he searched for a job as a heavy equipment operator.

Charlie Webb Jr. and Dorothy K. Webb had three wonderful children, Denise Tricia Webb, Dwayne Boderick Webb and Derwin Elliot Webb.

After the Military, while searching for a position as a Heavy Equipment specialist, Charlie worked several different jobs, (Saint Elizabeth Hospital, GYM's Store, Catering services and a variety of other jobs until he joined the District of Columbia (Federal Government) Oak Hill Youth Center as a Unit Supervisor.

His favorite activities were Deep Sea Fishing, Football and Baseball.  He also loved farming and hunting in North Carolina on his grandfather's farm.  Charlie Webb Jr., along with his brothers-in-law and a few close friends formed a club called the Los Cabalero's giving cabarets and after cabaret breakfast parties. After 30 years of service with Oak Hill Youth Center Charlie retired, then Charlie went on to work another 30 years guarding the Quate Embassy in Washington, D.C. as a Special Officer with arms.

Charlie was a friendly and outgoing gentle sole who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Charlie Webb Jr. leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy Knight Webb; one daughter, Denise Webb; one son, Derwin Webb,  One sister, Selma Ernestine Alston, one grandson, Charlie Dwayne Webb; one granddaughter, Breana Julia Webb; two great grandsons, Carter Dwayne Webb and Demarius Robinson; one great granddaughter, Brielle Robinson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.  Charlie was preceded in death by one son Dwayne Webb, and four sisters, Irene Dickens, Erma Sherrod, Vera Mae Shaw and Annie D. Petway

Charlie was blessed with a loving family whom all loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends who have solace in knowing he is embraced and resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior.  May the memory of Charlie, his laugh, his words, his smile, live on in our hearts for many years to come.
