IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrie Darinda
Whitfield
May 19, 1951 – June 6, 2020
Carrie Darinda Whitfield was born on May 19, 1951, in Albemarle County, Virginia, to Carrie and Preston Stewart. She grew up in Madison Mills, Virginia, with her parents and brothers. She attended George Washington Carver High School, where she met and married George Raymond Winston. From that union, they had one child Tracy Darinda Winston. Carrie moved to Atlanta, George, in 1973 and return to the area finally settling in Maryland
She spent her entire adult life, helping others through her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and, most recently, as a Certified Medication Aide for the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home for the last thirteen years. She was a front-line medical worker continuing to report to work during the pandemic even though she knew the risks. She was indeed a "Shero"!
Carrie loved her family, friends, exercise class with her workout buddies, dancing, music, traveling, shopping, and the Law and Order television show. Later in her life, she fell in love with a little yellow house on a hill that reminded her daily of the days when she lived in Virginia with her family. She enjoyed sitting outdoors, listening to birds, enjoying the scenery, and talking with her brother, Robert.
Carrie lost her battle with the COVID-19 virus on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 1:51 pm. Carrie is preceded in death by her father, Preston Stewart, mother Carrie Durrent Stewart, and brother Calvin N. Stewart. Carrie leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Tracy Richard, son-in-law Robert Richard, grandchildren Darinda and Dantrell, her brother Robert Stewart, first cousin Eva Lockhart and her husband Clarence and their children Sharawn and Clarence Jr., family friend Robert Houston and, a host of other loving family members, friends, and co-workers who mourn her passing yet celebrate her entrance into the kingdom of God in heaven.
