IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Frances
(Henderson) Bridges
September 24, 1945 – June 6, 2025
Quietly and peacefully, our beloved Mrs. Carol Bridges was called to her eternal rest on June 6th, 2025, following a brief stay at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Born on September 24th, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, Carol Frances Bridges was the beloved daughter of the late Marion Bullock and the cherished eldest sister of three. From the beginning, Carol touched the lives of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves a significant void, but her remarkable legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will forever resonate in our lives.
Carol's educational journey through the Boston public school system reflected her unwavering commitment and determination. She dedicated 35 years of her professional life to the National Gallery of Art, where she found a career and her soulmate, Mr. George Bridges, whom she lovingly married on December 18th, 1998.
Above all, Carol was immensely proud of her role as a mother. She was a nurturing presence in Angela Best's life, ensuring her daughter felt deeply loved and cared for. By balancing motherhood's demands and her career, Carol managed everything with style and grace. Together, they cherished countless moments, from silly phone calls and laughter over their favorite TV shows to delightful outings for High Tea at places like The Ritz Carlton and joyful drives through the city with the top down. She embraced getting an iPad so they could enjoy FaceTime, leading to even more fabulous moments filled with laughter and shenanigans. Their motto beautifully captured her spirit: "Not just be alive but live out loud unapologetically."
Carol had a unique gift for spreading joy, constantly filling gatherings with her infectious laughter and corny jokes. She was truly "The Queen of Corny Jokes"! Her love for travel took her to places like Hawaii and Las Vegas, where she always sought new adventures while cruising with her family. She enjoyed cooking, but if good seafood was on deck, she was at the table and loved taking pictures, ensuring every moment was captured. She always wanted to be surrounded by loved ones but never alone in the photo. She was a vibrant force on the dance floor, dancing to the rhythms of The Temptations, O'Jays, Spinners, and Commodores, celebrating life to the fullest.
Carol is preceded in death by her brother Clifton Bullock Sr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories through her devoted husband, George Bridges; her loving daughter Angela (LaNell) Best; her grandchildren Melinda and Jasmine; her great-grandchildren Aniya and Rylee; her sister Constance (Connie) Williamson; as well as her cherished nieces and nephews, Terrance, Thomas, Clifton Jr., Antonio, Marcus, and Shaena. Additionally, she embraced her bonus children and grandchildren and had a vast network of cousins, family, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
As we say our goodbyes, we take comfort in knowing this is not truly farewell; it is merely "I'll see you later." Carol's spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives, and though she may be gone from our sight, she will always be the one dancing in our hearts.
P.S. Be sure to take plenty of pictures as she would want you too!
