Obituary

Ben Thorpe, Jr., age 59, of Washington, D.C., peacefully passed away on June 23, 2025.

Born on July 23, 1965, in Washington, D.C., Ben was the beloved son of the late Ben Thorpe, Sr. and Gloria Thorpe. Affectionately known to his family as "Figg," Ben brought warmth, joy, and quiet strength to all who knew him.

He was a proud graduate of Gwynn Park Senior High School. Ben's life was marked by his deep faith; he symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God through baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. On October 17, 1992, he married the love of his life, Rose DeFalco Thorpe, with whom he shared a bond of love, faith, and devotion.

Ben had a passion for driving trucks and enjoyed many years on the road. He reluctantly retired from his career due to illness but remained resilient, faithful, and devoted throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rose DeFalco Thorpe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Sr. and Gloria Thorpe, and his sister, Moniqua Williamson.

Ben's memory will be cherished by his sisters Natalie Moore and Kimberly Tiggle (Charles Sr.); nephews Datcher, Michael, and Charles Jr. (Melissa); nieces Mia (Marc), Marecia, Charquea (Kwame), Robin, Sarah, Leah, Jasmin, and Annisa; great-nieces and great-nephews Nizhe, Reagan, Zahara, Maddox, Harlow, Noah, Marc-Michel, and Mila; father-in-law David DeFalco; brother-in-law David Roy DeFalco (June); sister-in-law Crystal Swann (Ricky); and a host of other loving relatives, dear friends, and countless spiritual brothers and sisters.

Ben's legacy of love, laughter, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
